Fernando Lazzari’s multi disciplinary, hands on approach to audiovisual projects makes him one of the few professionals in the world capable of handling such a diverse array of disciplines as Creative Direction, Motion Design, 2D/3D animation, Typography, and Live Action.
After studying Graphic Design in his hometown Buenos Aires, he ventured onto high end 3D animation for Broadcast and Advertising with Imagica, one of the pioneer CG studios at the time. His signature mix of 3D and 2D animation got recognised several times by Promax BDA International.
He then moved on to work as Art Director, then Creative Director at MTV Networks, where he got to develop his skills as a creative leader and managing teams to create multiple On Air and Off Air projects involving a wide scope of tasks such as motion graphics, writing, editing, sound design, live action and print. This stage also provided a unique opportunity to develop his skills as a Live Action director, filming several On Air image spots and campaigns for the network, of which his Vh1 “Alien” TVC got shortlisted in Cannes Lions.
As a freelance designer and director, he collaborated with top UK and International studios such as Mainframe, The Mill+, Future Deluxe, MPC, Dixon Baxi, Parasol Island and Viewfinder Media.
His film Montserrat, a visual poem featuring a blend of Buenos Aires historic architecture, the typeface of the same name designed by friend + colleague Julieta Ulanovsky and a beautiful poem by J. L. Borges, was awarded a Vimeo Staff Picks and got featured in countless industry blogs and websites.
Fernando's music videos for avant garde, electro-classical virtuoso musician Reid Willis, won several awards including Vimeo Staff Picks and Prix Ars Electronica and and were official selection in many film festivals around the world.
His work for Discovery Channel with Creative Director Antonio Rojas has been featured in several online portals such as Stash, The Plus and DesignCollector. His outstanding typographic work got featured in a special type issue of leading IdN magazine.
With a never ending desire for visual experimentation and innovation, Fernando’s work often switches from hands-on, high end CGI to leading other talented artists to deliver bigger sized projects.
Clients he's worked with include Huawei, Nokia, Nike, Microsoft, Oppo, Visa, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, MTV, Vh1, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, HomeAway, Fox Channels International, Channel 5, Viacom, The Telegraph and Bundesliga.
